Today, we are going to look at what is one potential way to totally eradicate the world of incurable diseases. Of course, we are not going to talk about magic pills or formulas, they don’t exist. We are going to look at how as a society, true advancements in medical science can happen and revolutionary cures can be created. This is what I fight for everyday.
1 potential way to find true cures and rid the world of incurable diseases
A 2013 article on Forbes credited the state of medical science as a key contributor to how revolutionary cures for diseases have not been invented. The author claimed that pharmaceutical companies/researchers/insiders are trying very hard to research and find good cures, which they can price highly and value from the sales of those drugs.
The question is, are researchers really trying their best?
We disagree. We feel that pharmaceutical companies, researchers are not trying hard enough, and consumers have to take back the power of drug discovery and invention from the insiders; reason being that patients will always have more incentive to drive research given that they are running against the clock, while researchers have no deep-rooted incentives (besides money, fame and power).
The Forbes article did touch on one point we resonated with, and that is increased collaboration between academia and industry. We believe going forward, all adept researchers should share research and data to advance medical science so that cures can be discovered. Sadly, we are all playing a game of Prisoner’s Dilemma here.
Crowd sourced medical research aggregates shared wisdom and increases efficiency of medical studies
The model we hence propose, is a crowd-sourced research model which patients can trust, and advance for the sake of inventing cures to benefit society. Imagine a world without diseases such as HIV, Cancer and Diabetes, wouldn’t that be a world we will all look forward to?
Let’s try to make this happen. You can play a part in advocating this 1 way to find true cure and rid the world of incurable diseases. You only have to join us in our journey. This might not be something we can do right away, but we are taking baby steps every single day.
