The Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the most common form of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of all Dementia cases. Alzheimer is a neurological disorder which is characterized by the death of brain cells, and a degradation in both mental and physical capacity. The threat of Alzheimer is also very real, with most victims dying in about a decade.

4 foods which can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease from developing

Since Alzheimer affects the brain, we are highlighting here 4 foods which are expected to be beneficial for someone who is fighting against Alzheimer or does not yet have Alzheimer. We got our initial inspiration from NDTV, but further validated the claims with more research.

  1. Foods rich in Vitamin C can reduce the risk of Alzheimer

In a report published on Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation, a diet rich in Vitamin C and E was correlated with a reduction in risk of Alzheimer by about 20 to 25%. However, the study also highlighted that for people who are already taking a diet rich in Vitamin C and E, the benefits were marginal and did not show a strong positive effect. Some examples of food rich in Vitamin C include strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, oranges and food rich in Vitamin E include Almonds, Sweet Potato, Avocado and more.

  1. Green vegetables can help improve cognitive power

According to studies published on Annals of Neurology, leafy green vegetables such as brocoli, cabbage (rich in Vitamin K) and even spinach are linked to greater cognitive power, which can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline in later stages of life.

  1. Foods with omega-3 fatty acids might help reduce cognitive decline

There has been research linking the consumption of foods with omega-3 fatty acids such as Mackerel, Salmon Fish Oil, Chia Seeds and Tuna can potentially help reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Foods with fatty acids are required because the human body is unable to produce them naturally, yet this is vital for healthy living.

  1. Healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil

Without going into extreme details, healthy oils have powerful antioxidants, healthier fats, and can benefit the brain significantly. There are many scientific research supporting the consumption or usage of healthier oils as it strongly benefits the individual.

At the end of the day, eating healthy is a choice. I hope that if you have not started consuming these 4 different types of food on a daily basis, you can do it tomorrow (or later during lunch if you are reading this in the morning). As the famous saying goes, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

All the right diet choices made now will last for decades into the future and make you richer, both materially, and physically. The effect of a good lifestyle was also previously covered by us here on CuraHOPE.
